Prospect Consulting was founded in 2003 by Charles Blount and Ed Newton. Previously we had been the research arm of City Insights, a specialist financial research and investor relations agency. In 2003 City Insights was sold to Tavistock Communications.
After graduating from Oxford and five years’ service in the Army, Charles entered the field of strategic management consulting in 1987 working full time, and as a contractor, for a range of consultancies including Bain, Burlington, COBA and Kalchas. He has considerable experience of corporate strategy formulation, M&A due diligence and hands on management experience in a range of start-up and developing businesses.
After graduating in maths he began his career with Unilever, initially working for Research Bureau and then Levers where he was both a group research manager and then a brand manager. In 1980 he joined consumer products manufacturer SC Johnson to head their market research department. In 1985 he became a director of Innovation, a marketing and sales promotion agency. This was followed with a move as a director to Future Featuring Ltd and then GfK. In 1996 he was one of the founders of City Insights and then on its acquisition by Tavistock Communications formed Prospect Consulting. Ed is a full member of the Market Research Society, Chartered Institute of Marketing and Independent Consultants Group.
Ed is also a trustee of Momentum
, a local Kingston Charity that supports children with cancer and life limiting conditions, a long time supporter and host for Contact for the Elderly, a Vice President of Surrey RFU and long suffering Fixtures Secretary of Effingham & Leatherhead RFC.
